Central Asia Pavilion | Venice Biennale 2011 “Lingua Franca. Experiences of Universal”

There are languages that make communication impossible. And there are things and categories, which are understood by everyone, without words…

Marat Raiymkulov belongs to the youngest generation of Central Asian artists. Graduated as a physicist and while developing his scientific career, Marat has been the initiator and participant of a number of informal artistic groups and collectives in Bishkek and Astana. His artistic practice is an intersection of visual arts, literary and dramatic expressions. Having found inspiration in theater of absurd and existential literary tradition from Gogol to Kafka, his multimedia project L’Innommable explores the existence of the universality of unformulated order.
