In which societal norms do we move and under which circumstances do we transgress their boundaries? What reasons are there to commit crimes? How does it feel to be stigmatized when looking for a flat, a job, or friends?

Things have a clear outline when looked at from a distance. Black and white can be told apart easily. Only upon approaching things, do outlines become blurred: participants have their own story; it is often hard to tell the difference between right and wrong in the midst of conflict; “good” and “bad” become less distinct when dealing with acquaintances, friends or oneself.

The exhibition “grey areas” was curated by Kunstverein Schichtwechsel for the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Liechtenstein’s probation service. 4 creative artists, 2 musicians and several school classes were invited to come up with contributions related to the anniversary. The exhibition is complemented by a varied program that includes guided tours, a presentation, a reading and an evening that features several smaller contributions on the topic of “grey areas”.
